Pricing Risk

I don't know who, among my readers, saw this article in the NY Times a few months ago. Most likely, all 3 of you. (What's up, G?!?!) I have to admit to being fascinated by this one. I haven't let it out of my browser since originally reading it, and I'm going to finish reading it now before I go to sleep. Risk management would appear to be the theme in my investing right now.

Just as VCs forgot that the "V" part of their title meant venture, it seems that quite a number of our boys up in New Haven and Greenwich forgot that hedgies actually means something.

It is vitally important that ego never goes unchecked, be it quants, gut instinct, or putting your wet thumb to the air to see which way the wind is blowing. I suspect it's really just raw human emotions.
